Rory is here!

I realize that it has been a whole week since she was born and I haven't updated the blog.  I'm sorry it took so long, but, as many of you know, new babies are time consuming!  That in combination with a 2.5 year old and it is some kind of miracle that I am still alive right now!  Anyway, on to Rory...

We went in at midnight on Tuesday the 2nd to be induced.  I signed all the paper work, got changed into the lovely hospital gown, and got set up on the monitors.  The nurse had to poke me three times before she finally gave up and put the IV in my hand.  I had told her she would have too but everyone always thinks they are going to be the magic one to find a vein in my arm.  I was at a 3 when they started my pit at 2 am.  Two hours later at 4 am I was at a four.  Contractions weren't that bad.  Then the nurse broke my water.  The contractions went crazy after that.  Nurse ordered an epidural for me and that helped for a while.  At 6 am I was feeling a crazy amount of pressure and then pain.  Called the nurse to check me.  I was at a 7.   I asked what had happened to my epidural.  She told me that I was moving to fast for it to keep up.  I got a boost from the anesthesiologist and that helped until an hour later when I hit a 9.  They had to slow the pitocin at the point cause Rory's heart rate was dipping with the force of the contractions.  That allowed my epidural to catch up, which was a really nice thing!  I could still "feel" what was going on, but the pain was finally gone.  At 9:45 am we started pushing.  I pushed all of 6 times and Rory arrived at 10:14 am.  I was amazed at how fast she came!  It took me 4 1/2 hours to push Cadence out so I was prepared for the worst.  Brady got to cut the cord this time and they plopped her right up on me once he was done.  It was awesome!

Rory weighted in at 6lbs 10oz and was 19 inches long.  That was also a shock since Cadence was 7lbs 6 oz and 19 1/4 inches long.  Rory was sucking on her fingers immediately after birth and when I tried to nurse her for the first time she latched on like a pro.  She has been a super nurser and HATES formula (we had to give her some cause she had a bit of jaundice).  She just holds it in her mouth and tries to spit it out.  Cracks me up.  She is a poop machine.  Every hour on the hour the girl fills a diaper.  She hates to have her diaper changed and makes the silliest faces all the time.  She loves to cuddle, just like Cady did.

Cadence is totally in love with her sister!  When she first met her all she could talk about was bringing her home and loving her.  She has had some really bad moments, but they are all directed at me and Brady.  So far her sister has escaped any mistreatment!

Anyway, I need to feed a baby, but here are some pictures of our newest family member!  Enjoy!

Our Last Day With Just Cady

Today was a great day!  It was Cady's last day as an only child and our last day as family of three so we decided to have a family day.  This morning we went Home Teaching with Daddy and visited the Reeve's.  Cady had a blast with their two older kids and it was sweet to meet their new baby.  Then we went to Smiths and picked up some popcorn to feed the geese at Floyd Lamb Park.  It was awesome!  There was so many Geese and ducks and all the babies were getting so big.  Cady had so much fun tossing them the popcorn and Brady and I had a great time watching her!

We headed over to Brady's parent's house for some BBQ after the park.  Happy Birthday to Grandpa Mike!  Cadence was a bit tired and had a hard time settling down, but it was great to see them all and watch some football.  After Cady had a nap, She got to ride with her Grandma Suzi out to see our new house witch should be done by the end of this month!  Grandma hadn't seen it yet so it was fun to show her around.  We then went to Peter Piper Pizza where Cady played on the slide and won a bunch of tickets (and ate pizza of course).  She piked some awesome prizes and we headed home.  Now we are just preparing for our midnight arrival at the hospital.

We have packed Cady a over night bag since tomorrow she will be heading to Grandma Suzi's for a sleep over.  My mom is doing us the huge favor of sleeping in our room with Cadence tonight so she wakes up to a familiar face tomorrow.  I am hoping she will get to come see her new sister shortly after waking tomorrow, but we will see how that goes.

Here is my last belly picture...39 weeks and 5 days...so ready to pop.
So we plan on updating sometime tomorrow with pictures of our new addition!  Wish us luck!
