Cadence

So I forgot the funniest part about today. When we went out side this morning (after The Great Hat Search of 2008...see the post below) Cadence looked around stuck her arms in the air and said, "Look mom! Everything is COVERED in frosting!"

I love my Cady.

Snow Day

Woke up this morning and looked out my bathroom window and saw a beautiful sight...

It took us a while to get outside and play in it because I couldn't find Cady's hat and mittens. After a long search we found them in the cupboard under the sink in Cady's bathroom. Yeah...that's what I said.

Cady had a blast! she built three very small, very lopsided snowmen and then started throwing hunks of snow at the wall in the back yard. It was great! Hope you all are having a great day as well!

Yucky...

We have all been sick off and on over here...but the worst so far has been my SEVERE ear infection. I had the flu on Tuesday. Wednesday night my ear was plugged and was hurting like nothing I have ever felt before. Then it got worse in the middle of the night. Then it was beyond bearing by Thursday morning. I called my mom and asked her to take me to Quick Care. The Motrin they had given me for after Rory's birth was taking the edge off, but I was still in a lot of pain. Lucky us there was no one at the Quick Care and they got me back really quickly (not the norm...Quick Care is usually only slightly faster than going to the ER). The Dr looked in my ear and said, "Holy crap! It's only been hurting since last night??" She said I was lucky my ear drum hadn't burst. Got some antibiotics. The rest of yesterday was pretty rough. I haven't had such intense pain for such a long period of time and I was barely handling it. At 4:30pm I finally called Brady and asked him to come home. Cady was at her Grandma Suzi's house (thanks Suzi...that made my day so much easier) and I was still at my moms. Brady is so good. He hurried as fast as he could. I went to bed early and last night went much better. This morning I still have some pain but it is much less pain compared to yesterday.
The worst part about this whole thing (other than the pain of course) is that my right ear (the one with the infection) is still plugged. For those who don't know, I only have about 50% hearing in my left ear. My right ear makes up the difference pretty well, but for the last few days it has been plugged up tight. Everyone has to practically yell at me so I can hear what they are saying. It totally sucks and is driving me crazy. I am hoping that by tomorrow I will have my hearing back!

Rory's nick name

Cady picked it out. Cady calls Rory "Rorus the Baby Saurus." We are sure that this stems from my calling her Rorasaurus. Cady's is cuter though. Gotta love almost three yearolds.

Rory's 3 months and other news

Rory was three months old on the 2nd! She is showing much more of her personality now and is spending most of the day awake. Cady loves this! She loves to help take care of her sister during the day and there is always something to do. Rory has officially entered the drooling phase of babyhood. I was worried that she was teething at first since Cady had her first tooth at 2 and 1/2 months but it seems that she is just drooly and not in any pain. Here are her 3 month pictures. I decided to just wait and post the nice ones for you instead of junk ones from the crappy camera on the actual day of.

My other new is of a sad nature. On Thursday I got a call from my sis-in-law, Heather. She told me that my OB/GYN, Dr. Kahle, had taken his own life Nov. 29th. (Thanks again Heather for the call...I would have missed his funeral if not for your thoughtfulness) I spent most of Thursday in shock. I called my mom and asked her to double check and make sure that it was indeed my Dr. Kahle and not someone else. Sadly my mom confirmed that it was he. I spent most of the day Friday either angry or sad. Angry because I didn't want to find a new doctor! He was the BEST doctor. He was always so kind and concerned about me and my family. He was patient and thorough. He had a great sense of humor and always made me feel comfortable (not easy to do in his line of work). He delivered both my babies. He would always answer Cady's million and one questions at my OB appointments. I was very angry that I was going to have to replace him. He was one of a kind and irreplaceable. My anger would give way to sadness and a million questions that I will never have answers to. Dr. Kahle was a very giving man. He served an honorable mission and married a wonderful woman in the temple. He has four beautiful children aging from sixteen to seven. He was serving as a member of the bishopric in his ward and was always willing to serve others when they needed him and especially when they didn't. My biggest question was why someone who had so much and had lived such a good life would choose to end it? Why would he choose not to be here to baptize his youngest son or see his children marry and have children of their own? Why didn't he tell someone how he was feeling? What was going to happen to him now?

His funeral was amazing. It was like attending stake conference here in Vegas. The Chapel was packed all the way to the stage. It was impossible to find a parking space. There were so many people there who had been touched by this one man. Many had come to the church because of his example of charity and love. I was in awe and deeply saddened that we had to be there at all! His closest friend and colleague gave a beautiful eulogy. I could tell it was the hardest thing he had ever done. His bishop spoke and the spirit during his words was so thick I felt like I was breathing it. He spoke of his own guilt and anger, and how he wished that he had answers to give. He then spoke words that touched me. He said that Dr. Kahle knew he made a mistake. We knew that he had made a mistake. But one mistake did not erase an entire life time of goodness, kindness, and loving. The Lord will take into account our entire life in his final judgement. Those words brought me so much peace. It made me so sad to think that a man who had done so much good in his life wouldn't get the credit for it. I was also gently reminded that the right to judge was the Lords alone.

I left that service with a much lighter heart. I also felt my Testimony strengthened. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He knows our hearts and minds. I know that He loves me despite my many mistakes and that it is only through Him that I can receive salvation. I know that He will never give me more than I can bear and that when I think that I can't go on all I have to do is turn to Him and He will ease my burdens. I know that I am a member of his true church.

I will miss Dr. Kahle. I am sad that he choose what he did. I pray for his family, that they may feel the love of the Lord in what must feel like a very dark time. I am so thankful for the knowledge that I have of eternal life! It brings me comfort to know that this life is only the beginning. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

My cute girls

I just wanted to say how Thankful I am for my girls! I don't know what I would do without them! I am so thankful that they are mine and that I get to spend almost everyday with them.

Rory is smiling so much now! She smiles everytime she sees me, Daddy or Cady. I can get her to giggle when I tickle her and the sound of her laughing is probably one of the best sounds in the world. She also sleeps SO well! I am getting way more sleep than I ever did with Cady and it is awesome. She also has discovered her hands! Joy of joys!

Cadence LOVE her sister! I love this picture. They look like they are having a blast together (they were) and that is what it is like pretty much every day. Cady wants to hold her sister ALL the time. She loves to kiss her and hold her hands. Cadence is also getting very good at sharing and is always trying befriend the sad kids in Nursery. She gives them hugs and always says something like, "Your mommy will be back soon. We should have fun now! Want to play with me?" It is so sweet and I love that she cares so much about others.

Cady wanted "Cinderella" Hair for church last week. This was how it turned out. Not to bad for someone who isn't very good with her own hair huh?

I LOVE my girls! I can't wait for Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday and I love the spirit that this season brings! I am also stoked for the first Christmas in our own home! I'm not that big on decorating, but I love the giving that goes on and all the time we get to spend with family! I hope that everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Nightmares

Cadence officially had her first nightmare last night. We are going to have to be a bit more careful about what she sees on TV from now on. Last night sometime Cady climbed in bed with us. I don't remember her doing this and neither does Brady, but we were all sleeping soundly until Cady starts screaming in a terrified voice, "Mommy! Mommy! No! Mommy!" Brady and I were both awake pretty fast and were trying to comfort Cadence. She was really shook up and when we asked her what happened she told us that the ants were trying to get mommy and they wouldn't stop. We told her that the ants weren't real and that she was safe with us. We figure that the ant dream stems from watching parts of the new Indiana Jones movie a few nights ago. In the movie there were giant ants that ate a couple of people. Not terribly graphic or anything, but scary to little ones. She seems fine now. We will have to see!

Rory is 2 months old!

We had Rory's 2 month appointment today! She was 9lbs 13ozs and 22.5 inches long. Girl is TINY compared to her big sister. She is SUCH a good baby. Here are some cute pictures I took with the crappy camera. I hope to have some good ones up soon!

Halloween

Here is our Halloween saga...

Earlier this year Cadence wanted to be the Little Mermaid for Halloween. I looked and looked and finally found a costume and ordered it (got a pretty good deal with free shipping...can't beat that!). It arrived and Cadence was in total love with the costume and wore it all the time. I thought we were good.
About three weeks before Halloween Cadence started telling everyone that she wanted to be a witch. It got to the point were I finally took her to look for a witch costume. She picked one out and was excited about it. We gave the kid that worked at Party City the number and 20 minutes later they brought us the costume (it was busy...REALLY BUSY). We pull it out of the the bag and there is no hat and the light up sparkly part doesn't work. I ask if they have another one. Nope. So they sell it to me for half price. On the way home I remember that there is another Party City close to where we live so we stop by to see if they have a costume with a hat and that works. We wait and wait and wait (they were busy too and on top of the busy part they were very un-organized). Finally they have one for us and it works and has a hat! Yay! We go to exchange it and the kid working there just traded straight across for the new one. So I still got the complete costume for half price. Pretty nice.
We take the costume home and try it on. It was hard to get on and very itchy. Cady was upset. I fixed what I could and bought a leotard for her to wear under it so it wouldn't itch her. Night before our trunk or treat she wouldn't put it on. REFUSED very VIOLENTLY to put it on. Brady and I were at a loss, and I was a mess since it was unlikely that we would be able to take it back now. The next morning I pulled the costume out and Cady started to bawl.
Off we went to Target so see if maybe we could find another costume. Lucky for us they had a really cute witch costume in Cady's size.
That afternoon Cady let me curl her hair with the curling iron for the very first time. Here were the results. As my sweet sister-in-law would say, "Trouble on two legs."

She got to wear some of my make up as well. She was in girlie heaven! Here was my witch!

Rory was a witch too. I found the little beanie at Target in the dollar bins. Love those things. The onesie says "This is my costume."

We had a blast at the trunk or treat! Rory chilled with Dad the whole time and Cady had so much fun as we went from car to car. She also got to have some cotton candy, a hot dog, and a scone! I hope that everyone had a great Halloween!

Carving the pumpkin

Last night we carved our pumpkin! It was super fun and lasted all of 30 minutes thanks to Brady's rad pumpkin cleaning skills. Cady picked out the pattern and watched as her picture was carved. She LOVED it just like last year. I can't wait for the Trunk or Treat tomorrow night (Thursday). Cady is going to have a blast! Here are some pictures...

Our house...

Here is our house. Don't mind the mess, we are still working on getting things organized. Also these pictures were taken with my crappy point and shoot. I can't up load any pictures from my good cameras to this computer for whatever reason. So we are working on that. In the mean time I wanted you all to be able to see the house and how it is shaping up!

Yes that is my mom on the balcony. She was using her new miter saw (sp?) to finish cutting the chair rail for Cady's room.

Here is our guest/workout room downstairs. We have a day bed with trundle and our handy dandy treadmill.

There is a full bath downstairs which my sister Whitney and her husband Cord can attest is very nice. :o)

In the hall leading to the bedroom downstairs there was a little inset area that we decided would be perfect for half my book collection.

And here is the kitchen. We love that the downstairs is practically one big room. Easy to keep track of the kids!

Here is the third upstairs bedroom. It is officially our "crap" room. All the stuff we don't know what to do with yet is in this room. The other half of my book collection is up here as well.

Here is Cady's room. She wanted a princess themed room. Once the chair rail is up we have a bunch of wall stickers of the Disney princesses that we will be putting up as well. I will take more pictures when it is finished!

So that is the basic tour of our house! I will post more pictures as we finish things and get more organized. So far my favorite thing is having my own bedroom! So nice! We also have a small back yard (not too small) which I will post pictures of once we get permission to landscape it.
