My darling kids!

I still can't post any pictures, but I thought that I should update on the kids and what they are up to these days.

Cadence is testing my patience in every way imaginable. I understand that this is her job as a soon to be 3 year old, but sometimes I miss my sweet, kind, loving little girl. She is still in there, but usually only shows herself to daddy. I will never understand how the same question asked in the same words with the same tone can illicit such drastically different responses. I got the following responses all this morning.

Me: "Cady will you help me pick up your toys?"
Cady: "No! I will not help you! You go to time out, RIGHT NOW!" (foot stamping on the right now part)

10 minutes later
Me: "Cady will you help me pick up your toys?"
Cady: Starts to bawl and runs to her room screaming things I can't understand.

2o minutes later
Me: "Cady will you help me pick up your toys?"
Cady: "Sure! Lets get them all! Can we have a samwitch for lunch?"

It is maddening really. I try my best to stay calm and collected and I am happy to say that I am winning the battle with my temper. Some days she is helpful right away and others she goes completely bat crazy and won't help at all. Those days she loses what ever toys are on the floor to the top of the bookshelf on the office. After a few days of good behavior the toys gradually start to reappear. It seems to work. Our other battle with Cadence is a certain cuss word she keeps repeating (in context too...weird that). We aren't sure where she learned it since Brady and I aren't cussers and I have been really creative with funny/silly words for when I have a situation that would otherwise call for a naughty word (words like 'snot' or 'ham' or 'pickles'). I am pretty sure it is the younger kids across the street though. They yell naughty words at each other (as do the adults) all the time and, though I have asked, I have a feeling it is a losing battle to get them to knock it off. As for Cady and the cuss word (dam lol) I tried pepper on the tongue and it didn't seem to phase her. We don't make a big deal about the word when she says it, just tell her that we don't use it, we use (insert list of silly words here) instead. If she uses it again right away then we do the pepper. I am thinking hot sauce might be a better choice for her since she doesn't really like spicy things.

Cady does do some good things these days! She tells me, "Mommy, your my very best friend!" which I think is so stinking sweet. She loves to have Dance and Sing time. I put my iPod on the speaker dock in the kitchen and let it shuffle through songs while we dance around and sing the wrong words. Rory gets a huge kick out of this display. Cady also likes to make us dinner in her kitchen and always has lots of yummy things for us to try (she can cook faster than me too...imagine that). She loves Rory to peices and is so careful and good with her.

Cady is also going to sleep by herself now. For those who don't know, we co-slept with Cady as a baby all the way up to her 1st birthday when she got her own mattress on the floor of our room. She still ended up in our bed a lot and always needed one of us to lay with her until she fell asleep. Often Daddy would fall asleep before she would. With the start of the new year, Brady and I decided that it was time that Cady learned to go to sleep by herself. The first night there was a lot of crying (all around). The next night was almost worse. The third night Brady struck gold. He told Cady that he could lay with her for two songs (she listens to the Hairspray sound track on her CD player at night to go to bed...girl LOVES that show) but after the two songs he had to go do Daddy things. Cady agreed to this and when the two songs were up, Brady kissed her and said good night and Cady WAS FINE! She stayed in her room without crying and went to sleep! We are thrilled with this new way of life!

Now our little one. Rory is a mommy's girl in the worst sense of the word. She wants mom and only mom unless mom isn't anywhere in sight (even then sometimes she will go crazy till I get back). We are working on this. She stays with Brady's mom on Tuesdays while I am in class and with my mom on Thursdays while I am in class. She is finally taking a bottle (not very willingly but she will take it) so I know she won't starve, but sometimes she just cries and cries until I am back again. Once she is in my arms she is just peachy. It's crazy. She is getting better with Brady too. She will take him over just about anyone else but me.

She is the sweetest baby though! She is giving big sloppy kisses and belly laughs that just light up my day! I wish she would stay little forever! She is growing and finally fitting in to some 3-6 month clothing (the stuff that runs small lol). She isn't interested in food that much. She likes to suck on apples if I am eating one, but that is about it. She doesn't even like toys really. She will go nuts for a cup though! Oh my goodness does the girl like a cup. Yup...just a plain old plastic drinking cup will get her all hyper and grabby. Makes it hard to drink anything and hold her though. lol. She can roll from front to back and now back to front and will sit up in tripod position. She can also do back bends really well. When she isn't strait as a plank of wood she is bending over backwards with great gymnastic form. It is really very funny. Gotta love the girl!

Well that's what is up in the kids world! Hope you are all well!

I feel the need to blog, even though I don't have much to say that is worth while, nor do I have any pictures to put up here thanks to my computer sucking. This laptop is so very slow that uploading pictures is impossible and it makes me sad that I officially can't do much of anything from my house anymore.

I do want to say Happy Birthday to my brother. So, uh, Happy Birthday Ry! Hope it was decent. Mom brought you a freezer so life can't be too bad right? Oh and congrats on your new computer...I am seriously jealous and very happy for you at the same time. No really I am.

I need to admit that I cried when my laptop died. I cried and raged and really really wanted to kick something. No, I wanted to kick the computer but that wouldn't make anything better and probably make my foot hurt. I didn't realize how dependant I was on the darn thing. Sad to say, but I feel like someone in my family died. It's left that kind of hole. It was my link to the world outside my home. I haven't had a car during the day since August. Everything that I need to do outside my home I have to schedule around when I can get a ride from someone. The good thing about this is that I have to be a lot more organized and I have figured out that I can actually walk to a lot of places and back and I won't die. Pushing a double stroller loaded to the gills isn't exactly easy (about 150lbs really...not pleasant going up hill and slightly dangerous going down) but if I plan right I can get us out and about. I plan all my "after dad gets home" outings with care since I know I will only have so long to be gone before it is time to get everyone ready for bed.

The down side to not having a car is I am completely cut off from all the fun and sanity saving things that I used to be able to do. I used to go to lunch with a great friend from work every now and again, but I haven't done that since before August. I can't do any grocery shopping unless someone takes me. I can't get Cady to any play groups or activities unless someone is willing to pick us up and take us back home. I have to schedule school and Dr.'s appointments for times when I know I will either have a car or a ride. I do want to say that I am super grateful to the wonderful people who help me with rides and cars (mostly my mom and mother-in-law), but it has been very very hard for me to be so dependant on others for just about everything. I am naturally a very independent person and I know that the Lord is teaching me, but it has been extremely hard.

When my computer died I lost a very vital connection with those people in the outside world. I felt crushed and very alone. It was the one thing I had in my house locked, kid crazy world that was keeping me sane. Granted I didn't even spend that much time on the computer with two small kids around, but it was nice to be able to reach out to people when and if I wanted.

I am really glad that I still had this old computer around, but it won't do for very long. I am dreading uploading pictures for my web class on this thing. I may not even try since it freezes when I have more than one program open. Poor thing. I think the funniest thing about all this was plugging this old computer in and turning it on. One of the first things that popped up was Windows Update. It informed me that I hadn't updated in close to 1000 days and would I like to search for updates? It took us the whole first day we used it to get the darn thing up to date.

So enough of my little pity party ramblings. I am feeling and doing much better now that I am finally starting to get a bunch of my information back. I did a lot of my bills online and it has been a small nightmare getting all the login information back and my routine back to normal. Thanks to all of you that sent me your info! It was much appreciated!

Crap Computers...

So my HP Awesome Laptop that isn't even two years old yet, crashed. I am sooooo unhappy about this. We are going to see what can be pulled off of it (should be mostly everything thank goodness) but for now I am working off of my old laptop and it doesn't have anything on it. For the time being I have lost every one's contact information (email addresses and real addresses) since I had them saved in outlook and not my actual google account. I was wondering if all you good people would send me your email and addresses again? Send them to kennedylantz@gmail.com please! I would be forever grateful! Thanks!

Rory is 4 months old!

Can you believe my baby is 4 months old already? I can't. I still can't believe that Cadence is going to be three in a month. Seems like just yesterday Cady was 4 months old. Where on earth is all the time going? We had a Dr.'s appointment today and Rory did great. She is growing very well, is VERY strong, and always watching everything. The Nurse Practitioner (her regular Dr. was sick today) was very impressed with her despite how tiny she is. And boy is she tiny! She weighed in at 11lbs 14oz (11th %), was 24 inches long (30th %) and is still in 0-3 month clothing.

Those of you who know my oldest know how weird this is for me. Cadence is (and always has been) ahead of the curve. She was born at a normal weight and proceeded to be above 97% until just recently her weight fell down the 75th. She continues to get taller and taller and taller with no sign of slowing down at all.

Rory is almost the exact opposite. She is growing well and is very healthy so there are no concerns there, but she is so tiny! Hands, feet, and head...every part of her is so petite. She is also a much calmer baby that Cady was. Cady is exuberant and forceful and gives 100% to every emotion she feels good and bad a like. In many ways she is just like me, quick to anger, quick to laugh, quick to cry. Rory is completely chill. She lets us know when she needs something but is otherwise content to sit around and watch everyone around her. Cady makes her smile and laugh a lot more often than Daddy or Mommy. Brady and I have to work pretty hard at it. She likes to talk, but only with her hands in her mouth. She is always happy in the morning and loves to cuddle at nap time. There is one thing that will make her really mad though...Formula. She HATES it. So I have been pumping like mad to get enough of a supply for when I go back to school in a couple of weeks.

What I love the best is that Cady and Rory love each other so much. They love to sit with each other and watch Cady's shows. Cady loves to help with her in any way and Rory never minds when Cady does funny things with her. It's like they are soul sisters. I will finish making lunch some days and Cady will be sitting next Rory's bouncer and they are holding hands making silly noises at each other. I LOVE that. I feel so lucky to be their mom!

Anyway, here are some pictures of Rory at 4 months and one of both of them!

Christmas Pictures

Christmas pictures! Most of you have seen them already since they were with our Christmas newsletter. We took them at home, on our bed, twenty minutes before leaving for church. Yes it was quite a production, but it was super fun and the self timer and my cable release came in really handy! I think they turned out pretty nice. What do you think?
