7 month Comparison and job news...

I thought it was time for another comparison of my kids...what do you think?

This was Cadence at about 8 months....

This is Rory at 7 months....

I think they look like siblings but not to much the same.  They have very similar facial structure though.  And HUGE eyes.  Rory's are still a really dark blue these days.

In other news, our family is about to make a major life change.  Some of you may know already that Brady's current job is floundering.  He works hard and is very good at what he does, but he hasn't had a sale in several months and it has been really hard for us.  We have been praying and looking into other job opportunities, but as you all know jobs have been scarce.  I little over a month ago Brady asked me if he could meet with an Air Force Recruiter.  This isn't the first time he has asked to do so either.  He asked if he could meet with them way back when we were first married and I flat out told him no.  This time I was reluctant and asked why?  He gave me a run down of somethings and I agreed that we should look into it some more and see what happens.  After much back and forth with several recruiters and scouring their website and, of course, praying and fasting several times we have decided that Brady should enlist.  I am terrified and excited.  They have told us it would probably be in September that he would go for training.  I am terrified at the thought of him leaving.  Training is 8 weeks long.  We also realize that we could end up anywhere.  Best case scenario is we can stay here and he will work at Nellis and we can still be close to family.   Worst case is we end up in Korea or something...not that it would be ALL bad, but it is a world away from everything and everyone we know.  There is a huge part of me that is looking forward to something new and exciting for Brady and our family.  There is a smaller part of me that doesn't want anything to change.  So wish us luck.  I will keep everyone updated on the process.

Cady's New Hair!

Cadence needed a hair cut.  First of all it was getting really long.  Long wouldn't have been such a problem if she would let me comb it once in a while.  It would be even better if she would let me DO something with it.  But alas, my girl is totally not into having her hair done every day.  So it looks like a bed head mess every day.  So last night I asked Heather to cut it short for me so it would be easier to manage.  Heather, being the wonderful and talented person that she is, did a FABULOUS job!  I think I told her how much I loved it about 150 times last night.  Again much thanks Heather for doing hair on Easter in your house.  I am always so grateful for your many talents.  Anyone looking for someone that will make you look the best you ever will look in your life?  Talk to my wonderful sis-in-law Heather.  She will make it happen and make it look easy too.

Anywho, here are the before shots....taken at like 2pm...yup her hair would look like that ALL DAY people.

And the AMAZING after pictures!!!  This is after she slept on it too.  I need to find the pictures I took of it last night right after Heather round brushed it and everything.  Sooooooooooo cute!  I can't wait till Rory has hair!

I'm in love with this next picture!!!

HUGE difference as you can see.  This will be so much easier for Brady and I.  Plus she looks darn cute!  Can't beat that!

Happy 7 Months!

My sweet little Rorus is 7 months old!  I can't believe how fast each month is flying by!  She is a whopping 14 pounds!  Lets face it, 14lbs is sooooooo much easier to carry around than 22lbs (thats how much Cady weighed at 7 months).  It looks like Rory is just going to be a petite little thing.  Well maybe, who can really tell at this age!  She is so very cute these days.  She "talks" at us.  Yup AT us and with great force and volume.  Whatever it is she is telling us, it must be very important.  That and I am pretty sure she thinks we are deaf.  My favorite noise she makes is at the tale ends of her loud shrieks and squeals.  As she runs out of gusto she will draw out the sound as long as she can until she runs out of breath, you know what I mean?  I remember as kids making a vowel sound and letting it eek out for as long as my breath would last (and sometimes that was a really long time!).  That is what Rorus does.  She just hangs on and on.  It is really funny.  She also is starting to LOVE her grandmas.  I am sure that this is making both of them very happy.  She sits up on her own and rolls all over the place to get where she wants.  I am sure it is only a matter of weeks before we have a crawler and I have to lock Cady's little toys up in her room.  I have no clue what we are going to do about the bottom of the stairs yet.  We have a gate at the top so that is all fine.  Rory is also in love with her sister!  Anything Cady is doing is interesting or funny and Rory gets so mad if Cady just up and walks away. We love Rory's mellow temperament and she looks more and more like Brady every day! Feel free to check out the rest of her photo shoot on the photo blog!

Worry Wort

I am sure that everyone is feeling the financial pinch these days.  I know we are and it has been easier than I thought it would be.  Let me explain. See, I am a worrier at heart.  It takes a lot of effort on my part to pretend I am not worrying, when, in fact, I usually am, and about everything under the sun.  I would worry back when we were financially stable.  In all my prayers I ask the Lord to help me worry only about the things that I need to worry about and I trust that he does.  Help me that is.
Best example of this is my lack of worry over our financial situation.  Technically speaking, I don't know if we will be able to pay the bills next month, but I'm not worried.  It is a really weird position for me.  Don't get me wrong, I am worried about things.  Like whether Rory's nose is ever going to stop running.  Or mine for that matter.  I worry about being too hard on Cadence and expecting to much of her.  I worry that Brady and I don't spend enough couple time together.  I worry that I haven't made it to church the past two weeks due to illness.  I worry that I don't read to my kids enough.  I always worry about leaving the garage door open.
You get the point.
But I am not worried about paying the bills.  I feel like I should be worried, but I'm not.  I have been thanking the Lord every day for this blessing.  I know that something will work out and everything will be just fine.  That we will have what we need, no more, no less.
I also thank the Lord every day that we live near both our families and that they provide us with so much love and support.  That is one of the biggest blessings in our lives right now.

I also feel I should share how the Lord has helped us prepare.  A while back I went to a Grocery Smarts class (If you haven't been you NEED to go!) and I have been using sales and coupons ever since to build up our food supply.  Every week I felt pushed to log in and stock up on things we might need.  Every week for the last four months I have felt pushed hard to do this.  This week I have felt nothing.  I got on to look, but I had an overwhelming feeling of peace and calm.  Almost as if the Lord was telling me that we didn't need anything this week.  It's a good thing to since we don't have the money for it.  I was amazed!  I looked around my house and realized that I have enough Food and Diapers and toilet paper for THREE WHOLE MONTHS!!! The Lord was preparing us for this for three whole months and I didn't even really notice it!  I am so so so grateful that I was allowing myself to be prompted (not always the case with me...I can be rather stubborn when I think I am in charge) and then following through.  I didn't even realize what the Lord was doing.  He was answering a prayer I hadn't even had the chance to give yet and I was in tears last night Thanking him for his fore thought on behalf of our family.  It is truly humbling and awe inspiring for me.

I hope that you are all doing alright and have everything that you need!

Rory's Stats

So Rory is still a little bean.  I thought she might make it to 14lbs at her check up, but she was only 13lbs 11 ounces.  That put her in the 10th percentile for weight.  She did jump up to 50th percentile for height as she was just shy of 26 inches.  Her head was perfectly normal as usual.  I knew that she was getting her two top teeth when we went in (BREAK THROUGH ALREADY! ahem sorry a little sleep deprived), but the Dr. found one more on the bottom right, next to her two on the bottom, that is coming up as well.  No wonder she has been so moody!  She is sitting up very well now and rolls all over the place.  She is super grabby so you have to watch what you are holding or standing next to.  She has finally gotten the hang of sitting on my hip as well, so my arms aren't quite as sore these days (I know, I know she weighs next to nothing, but darn if 13lbs in your arms all day doesn't make them sore!).  She still loves to bend over backwards a LOT.  One minute she is standing quite happily on your lap and the next she bends back into a perfect U shape.  She will hang there until you make her get up or her head starts to hurt.  So silly! She is also very quiet.  She doesn't babble at all, nope not one bit.  She shrieks when she is happy and chatty. Different vowel sounds, but always at a pitch that makes your ears ring. It's almost as if she knows she has to be loud to be heard over her big sister.  I am totally loving how active she is and that she likes to play so much now.  I am hoping that means I can get back to working out on a regular basis!  Wouldn't that be nice!

Happy Half Year!

Rory is 6 months old today.  I can't believe how the time has flown! She is such a precious part of our lives and I am so grateful to have her in our home.  She will have a check up on the 9th and I will post her stats then.  Here is her 6 month photo shoot that took place two days ago.  Cadence wanted her to wear the tutu (it was way to big, but it looked very cute).  She has started to sit on her own, but she can't sit and look up at me without falling over so the bumbo was in use!  There are so many pictures because just about every single one I took was to stinking cute!  Enjoy!
